Bangladesh is one of the poorest, most densely populated and least developed countries in the world.
At least 1 in 4 Bangladeshis are illiterate, and most of the more than 300 people groups in Bangladesh are among the world’s least reached with the Gospel. But Bible Society WA is working in partnership with Global Recordings Network (GRN) to enable people in this needy nation who would normally be cut off from God’s Word to engage with the Scriptures.
The Good News and Look, Listen and Live audio-visual presentations of Bible material are made up of audio recordings (usually on cassette or CD) and picture chart sets that come in different sizes. Audio-visual presentations of Bible material like these are a particularly effective way to evangelise and promote literacy in Bangladesh.
Bible Society is providing funding to enable these invaluable resources to be printed within Bangladesh, help with the costs associated with ongoing recording of new languages and improvement of recordings already made, and allow materials to be more widely distributed throughout Bangladeshi communities.
When Global Recordings’ Graydon Colville visited Bangladesh as part of a short-term mission team, he saw for himself how much Bangladeshis love stories, bright colours and pictures. Put these together and you have a great way to communicate the story of Jesus.
“It was exciting to see this entire extended Hindu family - huddled under the shelter while the rain poured down outside - drink in the story of the Bible as shared using the GRN ‘Good News’ Bible picture set.”
