China - Amity Press (paper for Bibles)
Amity has printed over 50 million Bibles for the people of China.

Midway through 2007, Amity Press was already printing 800,000 Bibles every month, using approximately 100 rolls of paper each week. A new printing press being delivered from the UK as 2008 begins will increase Amity’s monthly production to 1 million Bibles.
Yet by mid 2008, when Amity’s new 8.6ha site is fully operational, the production area will be 3 times its current size!

Bibles printed at Amity are distributed through 70 distribution centres, associated with 44 distribution vans and 55,000 churches.

The critical factor with regard to reaching China with God’s Word continues to be the provision of funds for the supply of paper to Amity Press. A typical Bible in China costs $4AUD; the cost of paper amounts to 60% of this figure. Providing free paper cuts the cost of a Bible by half.
Amity has been instrumental in raising the standard of local paper mills, and 100% of paper used at Amity is now sourced from within China. This has resulted in significant savings in paper costs.

Each Bible that rolls off the press has the potential to change countless lives.
Mr Zhang, from China’s Black Miao ethnic group, became a Christian in 2002. After he was taught to read the Bible, he found that he needs the Word of God to help him face each day.
“Reading the Bible is like eating rice,” he says. “You have to take it everyday. If you don’t, when you walk out, you will walk the wrong way.”
