Ethiopia - Amharic Pastors Book Sets
Biblical teaching by trained leaders is the single highest priority for the church right now in Ethiopia. Churches have grown rapidly, but many have no trained leadership, leaving Christians vulnerable to false teaching.

There are few Biblical study resources or ministry tools available in Amharic - the language spoken by the majority of Ethiopians. Not many pastors in Ethiopia could afford such a resource library anyway. Books in English are difficult to obtain due to high cost and low supply, and few have the language skills to read them.

Bible Society longs to see well-trained Ethiopian church leaders who can pass on a solid understanding of God’s Word to succeeding generations.
The Amharic Pastors’ Book Sets (PBS) Project will provide pastors with Bible study resources in their own language - 37 books including an NIV Study Bible - to help them interpret and apply important Biblical truths for their congregations. The book sets will be distributed at conferences held throughout the country, where the pastors will be trained in the use of the resources - often by the authors themselves.

Pastors and evangelists in small towns and rural areas will be the main beneficiaries of the PBS project. The churches they serve are poor. Most pastors travel by foot, bike or public bus. Few have indoor plumbing and many live without phone or electricity. Most would have finished secondary school and a few would have attended some 2-3 years at Bible School. They do not speak English.

“I have longed for a study Bible for a long time, and I believe this Word will affect my life passionately and, in turn, affect my ministry.”
