Western Australia - Bibles for Schools
Over 70% of children attending primary schools participate in ‘Scripture’ or Special Religious Education classes. The vast majority of these kids never attend a church. Plenty of these young people and their families have never seen a Bible, let alone read one.
Bible Society is making the most of the extraordinary opportunity school Scripture classes provide to give Aussie kids a personal encounter with God’s Word.
Each year, for the next 3 years, we plan to distribute Bibles and Memory Verse Calendars to school children through their Scripture teachers (Class sets and give aways) and Chaplains.
The impact these gifts may have reaches far beyond the classroom to whole families and the wider community.
“‘Where could I get one of those Bibles?’ one of my Year 4 girls asked. ‘You tell me the answers are in there - how can I get one so I can read it myself?’…What a blessing, then, to receive enough Bibles for this girl’s entire Year 4 class - the whole Bible, hardback and at an appropriate reading level for the kids! Fabulous! The kids were ecstatic when I took the Bibles in! It is great to know that now when I say go home and look it up in your Bible, they can. I am now praying that God will use his Word to bring these children and their families to him.”
